On 30 June 2017, the Court of Audit sent a report to the Flemish Parliament with its remarks on the general accounts by means of which the Flemish Government reported on its 2016 general and budget accounts.
The Court also examined the ESA consolidation the Flemish Government carried out in a broader European context. The Court concluded that, although the general accounts improved compared to the previous year, many shortcomings remained, distorting the true and fair view of the general and budget accounts. Like the year before, the lack of explanatory comments on the provided figures, on the use of budget appropriations and on the implemented policy was still a weak spot.
