Databases on driving licences and vehicles – quality and use by police forces for traffic enforcement

To reduce the number of road casualties, the police need accurate information on driving licences and vehicles for traffic enforcement. However, the Belgian Court of Audit found that the quality of these data and their use by police forces for traffic enforcement are insufficient. Among other things, there is poor access to accurate data on driving bans, technical inspections and compulsory third-party liability insurances.
