Contract Variation Costs met by the Flemish Inland Waterway Agency “De Scheepvaart”

During the period 2012-2014, the Flemish Inland Waterway Agency “De Scheepvaart” paid 9.1 million euros less and 29.03 million euros more invoices on 107 public works contracts. As a whole, these invoices represent 24.9% of the total amount of the awarded works contracts. This indicates extensive changes of the works during performance, esp. in 2014 (26.7%). Huge differences between the initial amounts and those finally paid often result from careless preparation of the calls for tenders.
