179th Book – Part III: budgetary policy of the federal State

In its 179th Book – Part III, the Belgian Court of Audit reported to the federal Parliament on its review of the federal State's budgetary policy for 2021. This review took place in a multi-annual perspective and in the European context. Chapter 1 covers the implementation of the budget 2021 of Belgium as a Member State of the European Union. It discusses the budget balance on an ESA basis and the structural balance of all public authorities (federal State, social security, communities, regions and local authorities), the consolidated gross debt of all public administrations and the compliance with European budgetary obligations. Chapter 2 addresses the implementation of the budget 2021 of the federal State and, in particular, of the general administration. It discusses the budget balance on an ESA basis and the structural balance of the federal State and the social security, the financing of other entities, the revenue and expenditure, the use of the COVID-19 provision, the budgetary measures taken by the government in 2021 and the evolution of the federal public debt.
