Integration of the academic higher education college training in universities
Dutch speaking chamber on July 24, 2018
The Court of Audit investigated whether the integration of the high school training programmes in universities had led to the expected changes as regards the anchoring of scientific research in education. It concluded that the ‘academization’ process was underway but had not yet been completed. The proportion of researchers in the staff responsible for the integrated programmes remains limited and the number of research projects and contracts has not really increased. Universities do not systematically monitor the effects of the integration. The Court also paid attention to the fine arts schools and the practice-oriented scientific research in high schools. Arts schools rarely get research projects and their cooperation with universities can be improved. Finally, the Court of Audit noticed that the overall financial resources intended for scientific research do not reach all high schools.
